Fun Fact
During World War II a majority of Florence was severely damaged. The German troops blew up all the bridges in the city except the Ponte Vecchio because Hitler felt it was too beautiful to destroy.
Transportation
American Airlines – flights are cheaper into Rome ($450 r/t vs $750 r/t) especially if you are taking the time to explore major cities in Italy. From Rome you can take the ItaliaRail train to Florence for around $30 one way or you can get a Railpass if you are traveling to more than one city during your trip.
Take a Stroll– Florence is a city that is best explored through walking adventures. In each corner and alleyway you are bound to find good eats, merchants or a unique performance.

A pretty simple apartment that we had all to ourselves. It was int he middle of the city so we were close to all the attractions and we were down the block from some cute cafes and restaurants. It was nice to unwind with some coffee and tiramisu after a long day of exploring.

Day 1 - Florence
- Accademia di Belle Arti – if you’re looking for the infamous David, you’ll find him here.
- Capelle Medici – an artistic beauty from floor to ceiling
- Duomo -one of the most visited sites in Europe, but don’t be frightened by the line, by your tickets in advanced and save time.
- Giottos Bell Tower – a view worth 414 steps… you decide?
- Piazza de la Republicca – take a ride on the carousel or have a coffee break in the historic center of Florence
- Mercato Nuovo – don’t forget to pet the boars snout and throw a coin so that you’ll return back to Florence someday.
- Piazza Del Signora – the center of political affairs in the city
Day 2 - Florence
- Basilica Santa Croce – many of the country’s great icons are buried here such as Michelangelo, Machiavelli & Galileo
- Uffizi Gallery – the home of many famous art pieces
- Ponte Vecchio – considered to be one of the most beautiful bridges in the city & a good place for a lovers lock just make sure you throw the key in the River <3
- Plazzo Pitti – former home of the Royals, current home to art & costumes
- Boboli Gardens – when the museums and lines become too much, aurround yourself with greenery and fresh air.
- Piazzale de Michaelangelo – a small hike with a big view of the whole city. Bring some wine and find a seat to watch the sunset
DAy 3 - Pisa
- Piazza dei Miracoli – the plaza of miracles holds the leaning tower of Pisa, Duomo di Pisa, Camposanto & the Baptistery
- Orto Botanico di Pisa – a beautiful garden with fountains, a historic greenhouse, a collection of aquatic plants, & a library
- Piazza dei Cavalieri – during the Middle Ages was the civil and political centre of Pisa
- Borgo Stretto – one of Pisa main streets for shopping
- Ponte di Mezzo – relax and enjoy the flowing Arno River
Day 4 - Wine Not
No better way to end a trip than relaxing with a glass of wine looking over the lush vineyards of Tuscany. You can take a tour from Florence which means turning your brain off and enjoying the buzz! OR plan your own trip and stay at a vineyard to indulge in the fruits of mother natures labor. Some top picks include:
- Fattoria Il Piano – take a tour of the chapel, gardens and underground cellar after you enjoy a tasting starting at 15 euro.
