If the main tourist sites are your game then the Hop On Hop Off Bus might be your thing to save time and see everything on your checklist.

Accomodation

Fabrizi was an awesome host, greeted us at the door and gave us information about the Airbnb & Rome. He also made a lovely breakfast for us in the morning and let us take snacks for the road. The apartment is down the block from the trams and buses, and you can buy a ticket at the local convenience store. Its about a 20 minute ride to the center of the city, which was great.

  • Piazza del Campidoglio – one of Rome’s most beautiful squares designed by Michelangelo
  • The Colosseum & Palatine Hill– these lines get pretty long and if you don’t want to wait in the scorching sun buy tickets in advanced.

Take a nice walk or the 81 bus to Vatican City aka the smallest city in the world. While the city is small the line can be huge. It’s better to buy the tickets in advanced especially if you are short on time.

  • Sistine Chapel – Be prepared for a crowded pilgrimage through art covered halls, all leading to the Creation of Adam. Don’t forget to look up, its pretty small & I almost missed it (Whoops)
  • Castel Sant’Angelo  –  originally constructed as a moseluem for King Hadrian, but has since become a residence, fortress and now a museum. It went through more phases than a teen.
  • Via Cola di Rienzo – do a little shopping while eating gelato

Eat It & Weep
