Salamanca

We realized that the beauty of Spain is it that there are so many towns and cities in close proximity. We were really able to take advantage and see a lot of the country in a little time. Our next trip was to Salamanca with James and Junior, Priya’s boyfriend. Salamanca seemed like a good fit for several young fresh out of college twenty something year olds. The college town had its share of history and fun.

Peak

This cute college town was a throwback to the college days we left behind not so long ago. It was definitely like The Commons in Ithaca where Alexis went to undergrad. The streets were lined with bars, boutiques and restaurant, there were even some beer pong tournaments. Beyond the beer and students,  there was a lot of history and architecture, you could definitely get lost in the beauty of the University, the Cathedrals or Plaza Mayor.

Valley

There is a myth about La Rana De Salamanca (The frog of Salamanca) that hides among the intricate details of the University. The tiny frog sits on a skull, and some say those who find the frog will be lucky enough to pass all their classes others say it represents the 7 deadly sins. Either way we never found it so I guess Grad schools out of the question.

Appreciation

The art in Salamanca was vibrant, intricate and abstract…words we might even use to describe our little duo. From swirls and colors in murals to the neatly written calligraphy that adorned postcards and street signs, we were amazed by how much culture this small town to offered
