Toledo

A City of Magic & Adventure

After two weeks of apartment hunting, furniture shopping and spotty wifi, we were ready for an escape. What better place to get lost than in a than the literary wonderland of Toledo. It was time to de-stress and enjoy all that Spain had to offer. After a mini photo shoot in the Atocha train stain we hopped on a train to start exploring. We took the Hop On bus tour because it was the best way to see the beautiful landscape and learn more about Cervantes and his misunderstood heros.

Peak

I think we all had to read Don Quixote at some point in school whether it was in Spanish class or English Lit., either way it was a little crazy but also fun and full of adventure. I think that perfectly describes me and Priya. We got on the top deck of the bus and let the wind blow through our hair all the way to Toledo. We took some great pictures of the beautiful scenery and statues that glorified the enthusiastic characters created by Cervantes. It was just what we needed to start our Spanish journey.

Valley

Honestly, we were so excited to go on our first adventure and nothing could bring us down. All peaks on this trip!

Appreciation

While Don Quixote is as real as the tooth fairy and Santa, it was amazing to see how one fictional character could bring so much pride to an entire country. It really makes you appreciate how Cervantes, like many great literary artists, can have such a positive influence to help people believe in the spirit of adventure and fairy tales.

” To surrender dreams – this may be madness. Too much sanity may be madness – and the maddest of all: to see life as it is, and not as it should be.”

-Miguel de Cervantes
